Relay for Life at Avon Old Farms

Relay For Life Held At Avon Old Farms

In advance of the larger Farmington Valley Relay for Life to be held the weekend of May 20 & 21, a smaller, sub-event was hosted at Avon Old Farms School to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The event mostly consisted of Avon Old Farms and Miss Porter's students and staff, but others participated as well including a few from Ethel Walkers School. To date, the event has raised $35,000 of a $40,000 goal to count toward the Farmington Valley's greater total. Last year, the Farmington Valley Relay for Life event ranked number 14 in the nation for most money raised.

The Avon Old Farms event included many of the notable details of any Relay for Life, including opening remarks, a survivor's lap, luminaries, and a closing ceremony. The event coordinators also included fun options such as large inflatables, a dunk tank, a pie-in-the-face event, and performances by both Avon Old Farms and Miss Porter's singing groups.
