Man of Avon: Roan Adams McClure ‘68

Roan McClure, 67, of Cave Junction, died June 19th, 2017 at RRMC after a short battle with an aggressive cancer. A service will be held Saturday, July 1st at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 207 S. Junction Ave., in Cave Junction. Interment will be on Monday, July 3rd at 1:00 pm at Eagle Point National Cemetery. The middle child of three, he was born on January 18, 1950 in San Francisco, CA.

He attended Avon Old Farms high school in CT soccer. Although recommended for acceptance into Stanford University, he chose to attend the University of Utah and BYU, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in History. He enlisted in the Army with Airborne and Special Forces and sent to Vietnam, later earning The Bronze Star, The Army Commendation Medal and several other commendations. His greatest loves were serving his God, his family, family history, and his country.

Roan is survived by his wife, Kandace McClure, son Dallin Goodrich McClure, and Richard, Mandalina, and James McClure, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
