Avon Old Farms vs. Berkshire

The Winged Beavers of Avon earned their first victory of the season over a strong Berkshire team in hard-fought OT thriller. In the first period, Berkshire took the 1-0 lead on a shot from the point. A screen out front allowed the puck to sneak past Avon goaltender Josh Egan ’14. Avon would not let the goal-against discourage them. Solid defense and goaltending for Avon would help shutdown the Berkshire offense for the rest of the game. With three minutes left in the third, Berkshire took a major penalty for checking from behind. The Berkshire penalty kill stood strong behind the blue line preventing Avon from gaining any great scoring opportunities. With only a minute left to go in regulation, Avon pulled their goalie for the 6v4 advantage. It was not long before the puck found the back of the net on a shot from Travis Mistretta ’12.
