Avon's last match of the year was a tough one, falling to tennis powerhouse Choate Rosemary Hall by a score of 1-6. Doubles highlights came from the #1 team of James Forster and Connor Cottrell who made a nice run. Down 2-7, Forster and Cottrell finally were able to string together some nice points and hold serve to make it 5-7. Alas, Choate then cut the rally short.
In singles, Forster demolished his opponent 6-2, 6-1, earning Avon's lone point on the day. Brendan Conry battle at the #3 spot, but could not find a way to exploit a very consistent opponent.
The good news, however, is that Avon will be sending Forster '11 to the New England Championship tournament for singles and a doubles of team of Brendan Conry '13 and Sebastian Silva '10 have qualified for the doubles brackets.
They will travel back to Choate Saturday morning to compete. The coaches and the rest of the team wish them the best of luck!!!
