General Camp Information
Camp Attire & Equipment
Campers should wear comfortable outdoor clothing, sneakers, and socks. Those campers participating in swim lessons should bring a towel, swim goggles and a bathing suit. Those involved in biking must bring helmets and bikes. Campers may bring other equipment such as baseball gloves or a favorite outfit for creative drama. Flip-flops and sandals are not permitted for safety purposes. Summer Fun Camp does not have storage facilities for keeping clothing items overnight or between sessions. We ask that campers take their clothing and other personal belongings home with them each day. Use of a backpack is encouraged for keeping track of personal items. Bikes can be left at camp in our secure location overnight and/or between sessions.
Snack & Lunch
Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunches and snacks. We will refrigerate all lunches and distribute them at lunch time. We ask that parents ensure that their campers' lunches and snacks are securely packaged and clearly marked. Snack time is held each day in the morning, and the camp provides popsicles for all campers in the afternoon. Plenty of water and lemonade are available for campers throughout the day. Summer Fun Camp will not distribute any food containing peanuts or tree nuts of any kind and encourage families to not send campers to camp with these foods as some campers may have an allergy to these items.
Swim Lessons
Swim lessons are held at the Town of Avon Sycamore Pool, located one mile from campus. Campers are transported to the pool each day by a staff member who is state-certified to drive busses. All lessons are taught by Red Cross certified swim instructors employed by the camp. Space is limited and will be assigned on a first come-first serve basis.
Inclement Weather
Camp will be held rain or shine! Please dress your child appropriately. A change of clothes may be brought to camp that day. Campers will participate in all scheduled activities. Arrangements will be made for outside programs.
Camp Rules
Summer Fun Camp strives to promote unity, cooperation, and teamwork. In an effort to help achieve this goal, we ask that campers do not bring cell phones, video games, trading cards, or any other personal items that may distract the campers from the scheduled events or that may be of significant value. If such items are brought to camp, they will be held at the Camp Office for safe keeping until dismissal.
Health and Safety
The safety of our campers is one of our primary concerns. The Assistant Director is First Aid and CPR Certified. To ensure the safety of the participants in our mountain biking activity, a helmet is required. Campers must provide their own helmets. All campers must have a completed physical form and immunization record submitted no later than June 1. These forms must be dated within the past 2 years. No camper will be allowed to attend camp without the proper form signed by their physician and parent/guardian.
Photo & Information Release Statement
Throughout the summer, the opportunity may arise for your child's picture to be taken for camp publications. It is assumed that the parent/guardian condones this practice unless a written note stating otherwise is received on or before the first day of camp. For safety reasons we do not publish or release the names or any other personal information about the children whose photos we use or who attend the camp. Your information is confidential and secure.
Disclaimers:
For the safety and welfare for all campers, Summer Fun Camp reserves the unrestricted right to dismiss any camper whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the Camp Director, is detrimental to the best interests of the camp. There will be no refunds in this case.
