The Arts at Avon

The Arts are an integral part of life at Avon; we believe the performing and visual arts play a significant role in a boys’ education. Whether you are already talented, or simply seeking a solid introduction to the varied disciplines in the arts, Avon offers a wide variety of artistic opportunities for artists, signers, actors, and musicians to flourish.

Courses in the arts are designed to engage boys in ‘hands-on’ study; we feel that the arts should be explored, developed, and appreciated, and our students experience the joy and fulfillment gained from playing music and creating works of art together. And the arts are not just academic—there are also several active arts clubs on campus.

All students are encouraged to explore artistic interests that appeal to them. One year of study in the arts is required, though many students choose to go beyond this requirement. We encourage each student to engage in independent work and seek his own style of creative expression. It is our aim to instill in each boy a life-long interest in the arts.
