Information Technology at AOF

Connecting Old World Values with New Age Technologies

The following pages contain information regarding the AOF laptop program, the school’s telephone program, and the Honeywell Instant Alert program. If you have any questions concerning any of the information contained in this packet please feel free to contact the technology department at 860-404-4205.

The AOF laptop program provides families with the option to purchase a high quality laptop sure to provide solutions for your computing needs while at Avon Old Farms School. The program provides on-campus software support of your laptop. The laptops for the 2012-13 school year were selected after careful consideration for its stability, and reliability. Click here for more information on the laptop program.

If you are bringing your own computer to school you should know that the technology department cannot provide warranty support for your computer. The technology department will attempt to help with operating system issues if you have your software with you. You must have a current version of anti-virus software running on your computer, and your computer must be virus free. If you computer is a windows based system you must also be current with Microsoft patches.

It is imperative that we have your contact information to notify you in the event of an emergency. The Honeywell Instant Alert system has the capability to notify you via traditional phone line, cell phone, txt message, and email. Please be sure to register before the beginning of school in the fall. Registration will be open after July 31st. For information on registering for the Honeywell Instant Alert system the school has implemented, please click here. If you are a returning family and registered last year, there is no need to re-register; your information is already in the system, however you may want to review it to ensure you have the correct information listed. If you have any questions concerning registration please contact Debra Case - tel: 860-404-4205.

The 2012 - 2013 Acceptable Use Policy available here. The policy is designed to protect all members of the school community as well as the school itself. Before being given access to the AOF network an Access Agreement must be signed by your son and by you the parent if your son is a miner. The Access Agreement form will be available at registration when you arrive at school in the fall.

Thank You,
