Health Center
The Avon Old Farms Health Center is located behind the Jennings Fairchild Hockey Rink at 1 Faculty Row. The Center provides comprehensive health care to the students of Avon Old Farms School. Staffed with a physician who is on campus three days a week, a nurse practitioner and three registered nurses; we are available to our students seven days a week, and can also be reached by telephone or e-mail during our regular hours. Medication is dispensed to the students and first-aid care is available during posted hours. In case of an emergency during non-staffed hours a nurse is available on call. Four beds are on hand in the Health Center if a student needs to spend an extended amount of time due to sickness or injury.
The Health Center works in partnership with the Connecticut Childrens Medical Center in Hartford Connecticut. We are a support service to our students and can make referrals to our medical doctor, clinical psychologist (Ellen Preen, Psy.D), or physical therapist.
Our goal is to keep our students mentally and physically healthy through education and preventative care.
