Welcome to the Athletic Hall of Fame
In 2003, Avon Old Farms School and its alumni association took a historic step by announcing the expansion of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Avon believes deeply in the educational value of athletics, and expanding the Hall of Fame was an appropriate way to celebrate the school's successful athletes and teams, while designating a place on campus for this purpose. The mission of our Athletic Hall of Fame is to honor exceptional individuals and teams who have achieved greatness and made outstanding contributions to Avon's rich athletic tradition.
The School receives dozens of nominations each year and carefully considers all of the individuals and teams suggested. Avon now counts 13 individuals and 9 teams among its Hall of Fame with its recent inductions in 2004, 2006, and 2009. You can read about the inductees by exploring the tabs at left.
The Hall of Fame is now a fixture on campus and has a permanent home in the new student center. This area serves as a celebration of Avon's strong athletic tradition and designates a place for reflection, inspiration, and distinction.
Future nominations are always being sought and received by the selection committee. All individual or team nominees must have graduated at least 10 years prior to induction, but coaches, trainers, or administrators can be nominated at any time. Anyone interested in nominating an individual or team to the Athletic Hall of Fame is invited to submit a written nomination to Rob Dowling '91, Avon Old Farms School, Avon, Connecticut 06001. Nominations can also be made online through the school's website by using the tab at left titled "Nomination Form."
