Event Recap: Avon: 46 Hotchkiss: 8
An undermanned Avon JV Football team traveled to Hotchkiss yesterday and defeated the Bearcats 46-8. Nick Castillo opened the scoring on Avon's second offensive play from 55 yards out. He added his second touchdown on a 31 yard run on Avon's next possession giving Avon all the points that they would need. Castillo would add one more first half touchdown on a 78 yard touchdown reception. Pearse McEneaney added a touchdown reception of his own, while Colin Tiernan had an excellent second half playing running back for the first time. He scored two rushing touchdowns and gained over 100 yards rushing to go with his first half receiving touchdown. Cody Doyle had a light day of work through the air, going 5 for 5 through the air in the first half for 150 yards an three TD's. The work of the offensive line (Jon St. Louis, Cam McMillan, Tadas Jalinskas, Nick Tarchis, Kyle Malley, and Peter Murphy) was outstanding throughout the game. Matt Johnston was 4 for 7 on PAT's.
Defensively, the Winged Beavers were dominant. Strong play by Peter Murphy, Tadas Jalinskas, Pearse McEneaney, and Lance Berry helped to almost completely shutdown the Bearcat offense. Cody Doyle tallied his first interception of the year in the first half.
The Winged Beavers will be back in action on Saturday versus Cheshire Academy. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 pm at home. |
