The Winged Beavers continued their undefeated season with a win over the Hotchkiss Bearcats this Wednesday. Early in the game the Beavers started their attack. Dangerous balls from Ramsey Heitmann and Holden Soffer were consistently crossed into the box. Avon held most of the possession the first half but had a tough time finishing their chances. Time dwindled in the first half when Jaime Carabias struck a corner kick that found the powerful foot of Ramsey Heitmann to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead. Soon it was Jaime's turn. Off another corner kick Wes Stager struck a beautiful corner where Jaime finished neatly giving the beavers a 2-0 lead going into half.
The second half began with Hotchkiss scoring right off the whistle with a striker waltzing right through the entire team to put a gorgeous strike in the far corner that froze the Avon keeper. After this woke the Beavers up, they were able to play strong defense and hold Hotchkiss to a single goal. Jeremy Campbell and Hunter McArthur were bright stars in the back accompanied by Nolan Callahan who got his first win as the Avon goalie. Avon will be back in action Saturday October 8th and they will be hosting the ever-strong Loomis Chaffee squad.
