The 4ths soccer team suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Rectory School varsity team on Wednesday afternoon. On the first sunny afternoon in days, the Winged Beavers just did not have the energy to compete with the strong and skilled Rectory squad. Avon went down early in the first half when a rainbow shot just found its way under the crossbar. At the start of the second half, Avon again gave up an early goal to fall behind 2-0. One bright spot for the Winged Beavers was keeper Seamus Donovan. Seamus made countless big saves from close range to keep the score close. Midfielder Devin McKenna also played with great hustle and tenacity. Avon has a short break before their next game, when they play Granby High School at home on Friday.
