Alum Town Hall Recap

An Alumni Town Hall was held on Thursday, October 14, which featured a state of the school update from Jim Detora with a Q&A opportunity. Topics that were discussed included:

  • An Enrollment Update: The school opened full this year with 406 boys enrolled from 31 U.S. States and 21 foreign countries.

  • A Fundraising Update: The school had a strong year of fundraising last school year. This was essential to helping balance our COVID operational adjustments, program support, and financial aid support for students.

  • Avon’s Covid response and how the school has operated last Spring and now this Fall.

  • Campus morale was discussed and is very strong. The team has worked incredibly hard to get us to the strong position that we are currently in.

  • Jim shared that we are 'back' to having some of the community events—like Morning Meeting, sit-down dinners, Advisor lunches, Chapel Talks, and Vespers—that help to weave the bond of our community together. The Avon community is such an important aspect of our school.

  • Centennial planning is in the early stages.

  • An on-campus memorial for Mr. Trautman is important to our community. We hope to hold one in the Spring—most likely at Reunion.

  • Reunion Weekend: Will be held June 3-5, 2022.
