Two AOF Alumni Win PLL Title
On Sunday, two former Winged Beavers lifted the Premier Lacrosse League trophy as the Waterdogs topped the Chaos in the championship game.
Connor Kelly ‘14 and Zac Tucci ’18 were both captains of the Varsity Lacrosse team while at Avon Old Farms, and both described Head Coach Henry “Skip” Flanagan as a mentor and friend. Years after their success on the field for Avon, the two teammates have now found success at the professional level.
The Waterdogs won the championship 11-9, with Kelly scoring two of his team’s goals. His first goal kicked off the scoring for his team in the first period, and his second goal was the final goal of the game, ultimately sealing the title for his team.
Tucci, who is a rookie this year, was inactive for Sunday’s game, but contributed to his team’s success with good performances during the regular season.
Matt Kowalchick ’99, assistant coach for the Varsity Lacrosse team, said he and a large group of students watched the championship game on TV.
“It got pretty rowdy. It was great,” Kowalchick said. “We’re all really proud of those guys.”
