Veterans Day

Veterans Day 2021

This Veterans Day, the Avon Old Farms community gather together to honor and give thanks to all the veterans in the world, but especially those who have touched our community.

In the morning, the local VFW post was on campus meeting with students and faculty for breakfast in the Refectory. The group also distributed American flag lapel pins to our students as they headed into a special Morning Meeting led by Major John Bourgault.

Students also viewed a special video created by the school, honoring all those in our community who have served, and who have had family members serve:

Bourgault also gave a speech on what Veterans Day is all about, and who our veterans are, followed by this video tribute:

In the afternoon, the Avon Old Farms School community honored a fallen brother by organizing our second annual all-school 5K in cooperation with APK Charities Corporation—a non-profit founded to honor and remember the ultimate sacrifice made by Avonian Captain Andrew M. Pedersen-Keel '02, US Army Special Forces. Learn more here. Andrew’s parents, Bob and Helen Pedersen-Keiser, made the trip to Avon to be a part of the special event.
