Winged Beavers Back in Action

Winged Beavers Back in Action

This year, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and after many discussions prioritizing community health, safety, and well-being, the Founders League has unanimously, and with great regret, canceled all Founders League interscholastic competition, fall, winter, and spring.

In accordance with this announcement, Avon has been limited with the options for competition, but pursued opportunities to create a modified game schedule for the winter, including two weekends of games so far in February: the first weekend consisted of hockey and basketball triple-headers and a double-header for the squash team against Salisbury. The next weekend saw basketball, hockey, and squash in action with Canterbury.

Highlights: February 5, 6 & 7

This first weekend of games was a tough start for the beavers on the ice and on the basketball court. AOF and Salisbury hockey tied for both games one and two before the Winged Beavers fell to the Crimson Knights 2-3 in game three. On the basketball court, Avon couldn't keep up and lost all three games of the weekend.

However, the Avon Old Farms squash team took home two wins during its first weekend of matches.

Highlights: February 14 & 15

On the ice last weekend, Avon found the back of the net eight times. The first game finished with a score of 2-0 over Canterbury, and the second game at home on President's Day finished 6-1.

Sadly Avon Squash lost to Canterbury 2-5, and the basketball team could not secure a win either, losing on Saturday 88-62 and on Sunday 75-55.

Playing without an audience is tough, but we can send out teams moral support as they enter another weekend of games against Salisbury. Catch our home games via the livestream at
