Morgan grew up in Madison, Connecticut, and attended Daniel Hand High School, where she was a peer advocate, a member of the National Honor Society, a performer in the school’s musical theater and madrigal singing programs, and a member of the varsity soccer and track and field teams. Morgan matriculated to Skidmore College, from which she graduated in 2006 with a double B.A. in English and Spanish. She was on the editorial board of the college's weekly student newspaper, The Skidmore News, and an AP English tutor for local high school students. Morgan was also a four-year member of the women's varsity soccer team, and was inducted into Skidmore’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
Morgan arrived at Avon Old Farms School after spending almost two years at the Reader's Digest Association as an editor for Weekly Reader Custom Publishing, creating, writing, and editing educational programs. Working with clients such as Hasbro, 20th Century Fox, General Motors, Six Flags Theme Parks, and Subway Restaurants, she brainstormed fun, creative ways to educate students using a client-supplied message or product. Materials were mailed to classrooms of all ages across the country.
Since 2007, Morgan has served as the editor of the school's alumni magazine,The Avonian. Duties include brainstorming material for the magazine; gathering, writing, and editing the majority of the magazine's content; overseeing the assignment of freelance writers and proofreaders; and coordinating the design, printing, and mailing of the magazine with an external design group.
Additionally, Morgan has a master’s in education, with a specialization in secondary reading and language arts, from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford. She teaches English 1 and Nonfictional and Fictional Narratives and has previously taught English 2.
Morgan lives on campus with her husband, AOF faculty member Brian Cugell, and their daughters, Emma and Maren. She enjoys traveling, running, cooking, reading, musical theater, and playing outside with her family.
