About Mrs. Jensen

I grew up in Avon, and graduated from Miss Porter's School in Farmington. After college, I settled in the desert, but moved my family back "home" from Scottsdale, Arizona so my sons could experience a New England childhood. When not at Avon, we enjoy exploring all this area has to offer, including day trips to Boston and New York as well as hiking the local area. I live off campus with my three boys, my husband and our small rescue zoo (a dog and 2 cats).

What experience led you to Avon Old Farms School?

I have been working in education as a special education teacher and learning specialist since 2003. I have worked with all ages during my career, from Kindergarten to High School. I have taught math, English and writing over the years.

Why do you teach at Avon Old Farms School?

I am a graduate of Miss Porter's School, and have held single-sex education in high regard my whole life. Additionally, it has been my life-long mission to not only prepare students for the tests they will take while at school, but rather to prepare them for life, to create not only students who can write a paper, but people who will go out and make their world a better place. At Avon, I found a school that is uniquely in line with my own personal values.
