Growing up in Boulder, Colorado, Rebecca Winsor attended Alexander Dawson, a private K-12 day school. Her two younger brothers traveled east for high school, her youngest brother, Charlie (AOF '17), joined Avon Old Farms for his junior year. It was that introduction that called Rebecca to our admissions team.
Rebecca immediately saw her brother grow into a mature young man at Avon. While finishing up her college career at Dickinson College where she was studying economics, Rebecca was inspired by her brother’s transformation.
“I knew I wanted to work in the boarding school world. My brother thrived as a member of the Avon brotherhood, and it was something I wanted to help create and foster.”
In the spring of 2017, Rebecca interned with Avon’s Admission Team before taking a job at a small school in Maine as the Director of Financial Aid and Associate Director of Admissions. After two years there, she moved to a new position at a less remote co-ed private school where she also coached girls JV soccer and hockey, before coming to Avon. Rebecca enjoyed getting to know the students and working to build each community, at each of her prior schools and is excited to be a part of the Avon community now.
“I always knew Avon was the place I would land, since I saw how it impacted my brother’s life.”
Rebecca joined the Old Farms team in the summer of 2020 as the Director of Financial Aid and Associate Director of Admissions. She lives on campus with her black lab, Remi.
