"The support systems I have had throughout my time at Avon are what has sparked my ambition to try new things."
"At Avon, I am able to become my own person in and outside of the classroom. Life at Avon is not just from first period to last. It starts at breakfast and goes until you finish study hall at 9:45 at night. You are always with your brothers on campus. The relationships I have created here range from my swim coach who also helps with my math homework during enrichment, to my friend from China that takes photos with me on the weekend for AP photography class.
These support systems I have had throughout my time at Avon are what has sparked my ambition to try new things. I was able to grow from playing on the lowest soccer team my freshman year to taking the risk of trying cross country the following fall and working my way up to earn captain this year. I was able to join new clubs such as Junior Achievement, which taught me how to run a business and sell a product. I was able to follow my passion for photography and be the president of the Photography Club. All of these opportunities that have shaped me to who I am today, would not have been possible if I had not attended Avon.
When I leave this school, I will not have graduated high school just by attending class and walking out the door at 3 p.m. every day. I will have graduated as a confident, independent, and well-rounded young adult who is ready to pursue the next set of challenges in the real world. I look back on my 13-year-old self that once read on a small brochure Aspirando Et Perseverando (Aspire and Persevere); I only knew then that Avon Old Farms was a possibility for the next four years of my life; I didn't know how much my life would change."
