HOMECOMING Weekend: November 6 - 7
We invite you and your family to come back home for a weekend to catch-up with old friends, teachers, and our Head of School Jim Detora P'12. Kick-off the weekend Saturday morning by attending the Bud Gouveia Training Room dedication; gather in the afternoon for refreshments and snacks at Nimrod Cabin; and support the Winged Beavers during our final home varsity football game under the lights at Ryan Field against Brunswick School.
Here’s a look at what we’ve planned for you:
Saturday, November 6
11:15 a.m. Bud Gouveia Training Room dedication.
As the triple threat trainer Bud was a teacher, coach, mentor, and friend to many members of the Avon Community during his tenure at Avon. The Training Room and it's budget in the 80's were both small and limited. Bud stretched the budget to ensure athletes could still get the treatment they needed throughout the school year. He also made the training room a friendly place where student athletes and coaches could come and address the injuries and other issues that arose. Join us outside the Training Room as we dedicate it to Bud.
11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Buffet Lunch in The Refectory.
1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Visit the Admissions Office.
Bringing your son to Homecoming? Curious about Admission, Enrollment, and/or Financial Aid? Stop by the admissions office, where members of our admissions team will be available to answer any questions that you may have. Come by to learn more about the enrollment process, where our key markets are, and as an alumni, how you can help us. If you are unable to join us during Homecoming Weekend but would like to learn more about Avon click here.
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Walking tour of Mrs. Riddle’s campus.
Come join us for a walking tour of Mrs. Riddle’s campus led by school historian, Art Custer. Accomplished architects, Chris Stone ’88, Andrew Corrigan ’98, and Rich Connell '74 will accompany and share insightful commentary on the architectural landscape of our beautiful campus. Please join to learn about Avon’s rich history and hear personal stories and memories. The tour will commence at the water tower with stops at various locations across campus. Exclusive access will be given to seldom or never seen space/s.
3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Join fellow alumni and friends for beer, wine, and lite bites at the Nimrod Cabin.
5:00 p.m. Pre-Game BBQ Tailgate dinner next to Ryan Field.
6:00 p.m. Avon takes on Brunswick School under the lights at Ryan Field.
If you can't make it to the game, please feel free to tune into the livestream.
