Housekeeping

  • Please update Scoir with the colleges you are interested in. For schools to which you know you will be applying, be sure to move the school from “Following” to “Applying” in your Scoir account and notify your counselor.
  • Please continue to work on completing the Common Application. If you have questions, refer to our Common Application Instructions.
  • Please see the College Virtual Visits Calendar located on the College Counseling page (scroll down) of the AOF website for a listing of virtual college visits. These meetings are for students only. The rules for attending are as follows:
    • Seniors and PGs may miss class but not a quiz, test, or lab.
    • Please notify your college counselor of your intention to attend so we can communicate with the representative.
    • Juniors are encouraged to attend during a free period. They may not miss class.
  • Counselors will continue to meet with students to discuss their admission plans and any changes to their college lists.

Testing

Although the majority of colleges have waived requirements for applicants to submit standardized testing results (SAT or ACT) for this admission cycle, we understand that many students want the option to take them if their test scores might bolster their applications, if athletic recruiting will require them, or if they will help in applying for merit scholarships.

Following are the test options we are recommending. These tests will be administered at AOF and include both weekend and class day options.

  • November 6: SAT Your son will need to register by October 8th with late registrations being accepted through October 26th.
  • December 4: SAT Your son will need to register by November 4th with late registrations being accepted through November 23rd.
  • December 11: ACT Your son will need to register with his account by November 5th with late registration accepted through November 19.

  • Please contact Marie Delnicki for information regarding extended time and testing requests.
  • Have questions? We can help! Contact your child’s College Counselor.

Class of 2023

  • We will assign your son his college counselor in December and start our individual meetings in January.

Testing

We have already registered all of the 11th grade to take the PSAT on Wed, October 13.

Although the pandemic has disrupted testing policies, we can not predict which colleges will return to requiring test scores for the next admission cycle, so we are recommending that 11th grade students establish a testing baseline this fall.

Following are the options for the SAT and ACT administrations at AOF.

  • November 6 SAT: Registration deadline October 8. Late registration (fee required) is October 26.
  • December 4 SAT:  Registration deadline November 4 with late registration (fee required)
  • December 11: ACT.  Registration deadline November 5th with late registration accepted through November 19.

This information will be important to help us develop a testing plan for each student when the outlines of the next admission cycle become clearer and we begin individual conferences in January.

FAQ

Does my son have to register to take the PSAT?
No, we arrange to have tests for all 10th and 11th grade students.

My son is repeating the 11th grade and has already taken the PSAT twice. Does he have to take it again?
