Parent Newsletter: September 20, 2018

The moment an Avon Old Farms boy steps into his first morning meeting, he begins a journey of transformation. He will grow in intellect, in independence, and in strength of character.

This campaign – Avon's most ambitious ever – is an investment in making that experience possible for future generations. It is our chance to ensure that Avon will continue to thrive for decades to come, fulfilling a mission of profound value: inspiring boys, and building men. Avon is moving forward with plans that will have a profound, long-term impact on our school: investing in our people, enhancing our campus facilities, and building a stronger financial foundation.

Now is the time for every member of the Avon family to contribute to the future of Avon Old Farms. Your participation matters…every gift matters. Join the campaign for Avon Old Farms School.

COLLEGE COUNSELING

Sat., Oct. 6: SAT and Subject Tests

Your son will need to register with his College Board account by Sept. 26.

Sat., Oct. 27: ACT

Your son will need to register with his ACT account by Oct.14.

Counselors will be meeting with students over the coming weeks to discuss summer visits and any changes to their college lists.

Over 125 college representatives will be visiting campus this fall. Students will receive an email reminder 24 hours before a visit from a college on their Naviance lists. We remind students at morning meeting which colleges will be on campus that day. Please see the College Visits Calendar located on the College Counseling page of the AOF website for details regarding the dates and times.

Rules for Attending a College Visit:

  1. Seniors and PGs may miss class but not a quiz, test, or lab.
  2. Please notify your college counselor of your intention to attend so we can communicate with the representative.
  3. Juniors are encouraged to attend during a free period. They may not miss class.

Do you want to find the college list your son and his counselor are discussing? Log in to Naviance Student and look for the "Colleges I'm Thinking About" tab.
