Dear Parents,
On behalf of the Deans of Students, welcome back to Avon Old Farms School!
My name is Brian Doyle. Along with Mike Murphy and Mike Symes, we manage the Dean of Students team. We are honored to assist you and your son in his journey at Avon. We care about your son's experience here, which is why we have structured our community to be a Brotherhood of networked students, teachers, advisors, and administrators. In this email, you'll find helpful information that was discussed during Wednesday evening's Zoom meeting. If you missed the meeting, you can watch a recording here. We hope that this communication will help you better understand Avon Old Farms School as we prepare for your son's arrival.
Dean of Students: Our Student Life Leadership There are three deans in our office and each is tasked with overseeing student life outside of the classroom and athletics. Each dean's primary focus is the community aspect of school life: we aim to support your son and help him find answers to questions which arise outside the realm of academics and athletics.
Who to Contact for Different Questions As a parent, your first point of contact will be your son's advisor. Advisor assignments will be communicated during the first week of August and will be visible in your son's Veracross Portal in late August. Until then, if you have an academic question, please contact your son's Academic Dean. If there is a community-life question, please contact the appropriate Dean of Students.
ACADEMIC QUESTIONS:
NON-ACADEMIC QUESTIONS:
As the summer progresses, we will continue to update families on important dates and information. Each year, we produce a list of frequently asked questions which will be helpful and available to all families by August 1st.
We look forward to seeing you this fall, AVON OLD FARMS |
