PARENT GREETERS are friendly, outgoing volunteers who welcome new parents and their sons as they arrive on campus on Opening Day and Family Weekend.

An INTERNATIONAL STUDENT HOST FAMILY is assigned an international student to welcome into their home on occasional weekends and short holidays throughout the school year. There is nothing more comforting for these boys than to have a friendly family willing to include them in their plans and celebrations when they are unable to go home to their own families.

PARENT LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE members reach out to a handful of other families to encourage them to follow their lead and support Avon’s most essential and important fundraising effort, the Annual Fund. We hope that every family will contribute generously, as all aspects of school life are enhanced by a strong Annual Fund.

THE PARENTS OF AVON (P of A) is the school’s parents group. The P of A plans activities that enhance the extraordinary sense of community at Avon Old Farms School. The group meets monthly during the school year to organize events like the popular golf outing on the Thursday before Family Weekend and the P of A Reception the next day. P of A volunteers also: assist in refreshment tents at sporting events; host receptions after concerts and theatrical performances; and plan and execute the primary fundraising event known as the Blue Blazer Ball (an enjoyable spring evening of entertainment, camaraderie and fun). In collaboration with the Headmaster, P of A members identify ways to use proceeds from the Student Enrichment Fund to enhance the academic, athletic, and extra-curricular experiences of our Winged Beavers.

PARENT & ALUMNI RECEPTION HOSTS invite prospective students and their parents to an “Avon Night” - a gathering at their home or in their area to learn about Avon Old Farms School and its culture from admissions officers and other local parents and alumni.

PARENT CALLING COMMITTEE members call newly accepted students and their parents to congratulate them and answer any questions they may have as they make their decision.

PARENT PANELISTS field questions from the audience and offer their unique insight into the Avon experience during the Avon Today and Open House programs.
