Evan Carp '17

For those who have never met Evan Carp ’17, a quick glance at the lapel of his Avon jacket will tell you all you need to know – he is a well-accomplished Avonian. For those that do know him, like his advisor Samantha Jensen, he is described as a likable, respected leader on and off the football field – a hard worker; a ‘gentle giant.’

“I came to Avon for the brotherhood,” said Carp, who joined the Avon community in 2014. “I was looking for a lot of different things in my high school, including strong academics, a strong team, and a strong community. I found all that and more at Avon Old Farms.”

His junior year, Carp was elected captain of the varsity football team. He earned the trust of his teammates and became a defensive force on the field. This year, he again is leading the varsity football team, and has goals of fostering a close, healthy team that plays strong together. He hopes to help bring the team all the way to a win at the New England Championships.

A bright, articulate student, off the field Carp has earned Honor Roll or Dean’s List status every quarter since joining the Avon community. A talented musician, Carp also played bass in the Elite Jazz Band for two years.

“Carp is a strong leader because he is first and foremost always encouraging,” commented Jensen. “He is passionate about his team, and passionate about Avon. He is a natural leader who focuses on helping each player rise to their best ability. He is truly a positive force in our school.”

Carp is already committed to playing football for the University of Pennsylvania, where he plans to major in economics.

“I took AP Economics my junior year and I really enjoyed it,” explained Carp, who this year is taking Spanish V Honors and Calculus. “I want to make a career in something I like doing.”
