Commencement Q&A

Do I need to RSVP to attend Commencement?
No, you do not need to RSVP. Seats are first come, first serve.

How many family members can I bring?
We do not have a limit on the amount of family a student can have at Commencement. However, seats are limited and they are first come, first serve.

Will Commencement be outside?
Yes, we hope so! Unless it is raining, Commencement will be held outside on the Village Green. Please check the weather and dress accordingly. In the event of rain, Commencement will move inside to the Field House.

Is there a reception following Commencement?
Yes, please join us in the Refectory following the ceremony if your schedule allows.

When will my son receive his alumni tie for Commencement?
Ties will be handed out during Commencement rehearsals. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure he has his tie on graduation morning.

What does my son wear for Commencement?
Vespers attire and their new alumni tie. Graduating seniors do not need a blazer.

Can I send dorm room items directly to my son’s college?
Yes! Pak Mail can ship directly. For more information on Pak Mail services, click here.

Can I donate personal items from my son’s dorm room?
Yes, we accept some items! Our new Avon Thrift Shop will be open all weekend in Adams Theater. Any questions, please contact Katy Perry at perryk@avonoldfarms.com

  • Starting May 23rd the Adams Theater stage will be set up to accept donations. Boys are encouraged to clean out and donate items from their dorm rooms BEFORE the last day.

    • All books will go to the library where the librarians will help boys either sell back or donate their textbooks.

    • Clothing, bedding, towels, small dorm items, school supplies, and unopened food and toiletries will come to the Adams Theater to be sorted and distributed for use here on campus or to local organizations.

    • Big items like fridges, chairs and fans are still in question. In the past, if they were still in good shape, they could be left in the dorm for summer programs and for the students next year.
