Welcome, Sarah Blanchard P '24, Director of Alumni & Development to Avon Old Farms School
Avon Old Farms School is excited to announce the hiring of Sarah Blanchard P'24, as director of alumni & development.
Sarah’s career in fundraising began almost 20-years ago, and has spanned the globe—serving schools, universities, and organizations from Greece to San Francisco, Jackson Hole to Farmington, Conn., and points between. While she has served in multiple roles in the development field, her primary focus has been on alumni engagement and annual giving...two areas that Avon Old Farms School has identified as strategically critical to our fundraising success as we move forward.
Most recently, Sarah has worked at Miss Porter’s School (MPS), in Farmington, as the director of alumnae affairs. In that role, Sarah has worked with countless MPS alumnae to garner their support, be it financial or in a myriad of other ways to benefit the students of the institution. Sarah has also been integral with MPS’s efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion serving as a conduit between alumnae from diverse backgrounds and the Alumnae Board.
The MPS announcement of her departure captured Sarah’s most recent work and will provide you with a sense of her organizational skills, work ethic, and what she has meant to the MPS community:
Since 2017, Sarah has shaped the work of the Alumnae and Development Office through her dedication to creating and executing forward-focused programs that sustain the Ancient community and amplify the power and breadth of this very special diverse community. She has enhanced the Ancient community by modernizing the work of the Alumnae Board, and supporting the creation of meaningful and serious engagement with Ancients. She has guided the Alumnae Board's work in executing the World Wide Sit Down Dinners, our terquasquicentennial (175th celebration). Most recently, Sarah shepherded the virtual Farmington Chats, launched our Ancient Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, and oversaw our recent all-Ancient Engagement Survey. She has been committed to leveraging the talents of MPS graduates and emphasizing the importance of connection to Farmington and the communities in which our Ancients reside, work and create their lives.
Sarah is married to her husband Jeff, and has three children: Ned (20), Brad (18), and Chuck (16) who attends Avon Old Farms as a freshman. The Blanchard family resides in West Hartford, Conn.
The Institutional Advancement Team and Avon Old Farms is excited to have Sarah join our community professionally, officially starting on June 1.
