The dress code has a few variations depending on the occasion.

1. Classroom Dress - khakis or chinos, belt, button-up shirt, socks, dress shoes*, tie, and a blazer. Classroom dress is to be worn during class days to morning meeting, class, and meals in the refectory.
2. Smart Casual Dress - khakis or chinos, belt, button-up shirt, socks, and dress shoes*. Smart Casual dress is to be worn during announced buffet meals and to Saturday events. A student is always notified beforehand when this dress is appropriate.
3. Casual Dress - t-shirt, polo, jeans, sweatshirt, sweatpants, etc. Casual dress can be worn when classes and special events are not in session - usually a Saturday afternoon and all-day Sunday.
4. Vespers Dress- Grey pants, black belt, black polished shoes, black socks, white button-up, school tie, school blazer. This is the School Uniform which should be worn during very special ceremonies like graduation. Vespers can be purchased off campus at Men’s Warehouse, or on-campus when Formals by Antonio comes on campus to fit students who wish to purchase their ensemble on-campus during the opening of school. A school patch will be mailed to afix to a blue blazer, making this blazer the 'school blazer.' A school tie will be provided for your son when he arrives on campus.

• Boys typically wear their navy-blue school blazer most days, but are not required to do so, unless informed.

• Shorts are allowed with classroom dress and smart casual only when the weather permits, the school’s Provost will make announcements stating when shorts are allowed. Shorts cannot have cargo pockets.

Brother-2-Brother

Our Director of Sustainability, Katy Perry, has joined with our student volunteers to create a thrift shop on campus. The shop has a wide selection of jackets, ties, dress pants and vespers attire. We suggest that new students arrive on campus with a complete set of vespers attire and use the thrift shop for supplemental items and to replace outgrown clothing. The shop also accepts donations in exchange for credit to shop. The shop will be open on arrival days and also one day in late summer for local families.

You will be mailed your Winged Beaver school patch later in the summer so you will have time to sew it onto your navy blue blazer. You will be given your crimson and navy striped tie when you arrive to school in the fall.

Students are required to wear their hair in a traditional fashion at a reasonable length, as deemed acceptable by the school administration. Earrings or body piercing jewelry of any kind may not be worn at school. Students must be clean shaven.

Advisor assignments are given to you during registration on opening day. Advisors can be changed after a student’s first year through the Associate Headmaster’s Office.

Boarders are not allowed to have cars on campus.

1. Local leaves- Students are allowed to check out to town at appropriate times during the week. Any unauthorized leave from campus will result in appropriate disciplinary action. Students are not allowed to ride with any driver under the age of 21. Day students are never allowed to drive boarding students.
2. Weekends- Weekend leaves begin when a student has fulfilled his last school commitment of the week. Leave slips may be obtained at the entrance to the Associate Headmaster’s Office and turned into the Dean of Students or the Administrator on Duty (AOD) when signing out. All overnight leaves must be cleared with the Associate Headmaster’s Office by after lunch on Friday except in the event of an emergency. Students may not leave for a weekend if they have Sunday work crew.
3. Vacations-Students cannot leave school early or return late from any scheduled vacation period. Students are required to meet all commitments through their last scheduled class or activity before they may leave campus for a school break. Teachers often plan tests or other graded exercises at this time. If there is a graded exercise, test, or quiz and a student misses it, he will receive an F for that exercise. We ask that students and parents adhere strictly to the published school calendar when planning travel.
4. Miscellaneous- Boarding students are not allowed to leave campus during the week, including Friday evening, if it interferes with study hall or Saturday classes. Trips to concerts, movies, and sporting events during the week, including Friday, unless sponsored by the school, are forbidden. Special permission must be obtained from the Associate Headmaster at least one week in advance.

No, all tickets for weekend activities are purchased by the school for students. However, some school dances are fundraisers during which there may be a suggested donation upon entry. All students sign up for social activities the week of the activity via email.

Please do not bring items which are irreplaceable or of considerable value. The school cannot be responsible for such items. If your son brings a bicycle or scooter to school, he must accept full responsibility for keeping it locked when not in use and for registering the bike with the Associate Headmaster office at the start of school.

To assist you in organizing what your son will need for next year, the following list may be used as a guide:

• Rain jacket/umbrella
• Winter jacket, hat & gloves
• Ten dress shirts – at least two white shirts
• One pair of dark dress shoes that can be shined
• One pair of casual shoes
• One pair of sneakers
• One pair of gray dress pants
• Three or four pairs of pants (khakis)-No cargo pants
• Two or three sports jackets – one must be navy blue
• Ties – at least four
• Padlock

Please note a list of school supplies will be provided by your son’s teachers upon arrival and available for purchase in the Hawk’s Nest (school store)

Our Health Center is open:

When the Health Center is closed, a school nurse is on call for situations that require medical attention. Please call the Health Center at 860-404-4243 for assistance. If the situation is urgent, call 911.

All controlled medications and some prescription medications (prescribed for Attention Deficit Disorder & Mood disorders) must be stored in and dispensed from our Health Center. Possession of any of these medications is a violation of our medication policy and will lead to disciplinary action.

I have a question about medications, who should I contact?

 ALL international students must have a current (within 2 months) PPD skin test or quantiferon gold blood test prior to coming to campus. Students, especially ones from high-risk countries, will not be allowed on campus at all if they have not fulfilled this requirement.

We require a CURRENT Physical exam for all students.  If a physical exam has not been done within one year of the start of school, students may be withheld from sports.  Exams must be done and submitted yearly.  

All forms must be uploaded through the Magnus Health Portal by the parents/guardian. Hard copies will not be accepted.

We require all students to have adequate health insurance coverage in the State of CT.  For international students, we have partnered with Clifford Allen Associates to provide a policy that meets these requirements. All international students are required to sign up for insurance here. A copy of your son’s health insurance card (front and back) must be submitted through the Magnus Health Portal.
