For years, Dr. Deckers has been visiting Avon Old Farms School in the spring to spend a day with his grandsons for AOF's Grandparents Day. This week would have held that visit if it were not for our current situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Avon Old Farms School is a special place in the spring, and I am sure you all miss being together for spring activities, including Grandparents Day.
But, the spirit of Grandparents Day is really about connection. Do grandparents love visiting the campus? Of course they do. But they would travel to wherever their grandchildren are to spend the day with you, because it is you who they love and cherish. So today, we want to remind you to reach out to your grandparents. Call them. Facetime them. Zoom them. Go stand in their front yard and talk through a screen. Anything is great. But we are sure they would love to hear how you are doing, how your online classes are going, and how you are coping as a young person living through this challenging time. Now more than ever, they would love to spend some time in the company (albeit virtually) with their grandsons.
