Avon Old Farms School recognizes notable alumni through four prestigious awards: Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Athletic Hall of Fame, the Mendell Medal, and the Alumni Order of Old Farms.

 

Distinguished Alumnus Award

  • Featured Alumnus: Chris Higgins '01

    Chris Higgins '01 reflects on 12 years in the NHL, how his time at Avon prepared him for any challenge, and what it meant to play for John T. Gardner. 

  • Captain's Corner: Squash

    Hailing from Ecuador, Pablo Paredes '26 chose Avon Old Farms as the next step in his squash career, and has spent the last two seasons as captain of the varsity team. We sat down with Pablo to learn more about his role and what his hopes are for the season.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes a deserving alumnus who has achieved distinction in his professional career, humanitarian endeavors, or other areas of his life.

This award honors an individual who has embraced the core values emphasized at Avon Old Farms. By celebrating the accomplishments of the recipient, Avon Old Farms nourishes the strong sense of pride within our school community and acknowledges the inherent value in recognizing excellence among our alumni.

 

Athletic Hall of Fame

The mission of our Athletic Hall of Fame is to honor exceptional individuals and teams who have achieved greatness and made outstanding contributions to Avon's rich athletic tradition.

Future nominations sought annually and reviewed by the selection committee. All individual or team nominees must have graduated at least 10 years prior to induction; however, coaches, trainers, or administrators can be nominated at any time.

Mendell Medal Recipients

The Mendell Medal was established by the Avon Old Farms Board of Directors in 1990 to recognize alumni who have made significant and long-lasting contributions to Avon Old Farms School.  The award honors Seth Mendell '52, who served as Director of Alumni and Development from 1970 to 1990 and was instrumental in creating the strong alumni and development program that continues today.

 

 

Alumni Order of Old Farms

The Alumni Order of Old Farms shall be awarded to those individuals who most generously serve the welfare of Avon Old Farms and who are governed in all their human relationships by a deep sense of honor.
