A gift may be made through your will at any age and it is revocable; so if your circumstances change you may change your mind at any time.  A bequest costs nothing now, and allows you to retain your assets during your lifetime.

There are several ways in which you can leave a bequest to Avon Old Farms in your will or trust.  Below are a few examples of suggested language.  Theses may be adapted with your attorney to fit your individual needs.

“I give, devise, and bequeath (a percentage of your estate, a specific dollar amount, or a certain number of shares of a publicly traded company) to Avon Old Farms School, Inc., located in Avon, CT, for its unrestricted use and to benefit the school.”

If you would like to leave Avon Old Farms what’s left of your estate after specific bequests:

“I give, devise, and bequeath all the rest, residue, and remainder of my property, both real and personal, to Avon Old Farms School, Inc., located in Avon, CT, for its unrestricted use and to benefit the school.”

“I give, devise, and bequeath the sum (or percentage) of $______ to Avon Old Farms School, Inc., located in Avon, CT, for its unrestricted use and to benefit the school should (insert a condition, ex. If my spouse Mary is not living at the time of my demise).”

These gifts are all phrased for unrestricted support.  Should you like to leave a bequest for a specific purpose, we encourage you have a discussion with the Alumni and Development Office before the gift is made.
