Overview
Track & Field - Varsity
The track and field program at Avon Old Farms School has enjoyed a tradition of success throughout its lengthy history. The program's mission is to promote sportsmanship, integrity, and dedication to others in a supportive team culture. Our commitment to these values has led to multiple Founders League Championships, New England Championships, and New Balance National Championship qualifiers.
The team roster is typically between 40 to 50 student-athletes and is one of the larger teams on campus. The program accommodates athletes of all ability levels – from novice beginners to crossover student-athletes from football, soccer, basketball and hockey to student-athletes committed to NCAA track and field programs. Student-athletes set team and individual goals at the beginning of each season. Coaches tailor training programs towards these goals. Teamwork, personal accountability, and hard work are emphasized methods for personal improvement.
Recent program alumni have continued their competitive careers at Bates College, Bowdoin College, Leigh University, Merrimack University, Middlebury College, Tufts University, University of Richmond, Susquehanna University, and Wesleyan University. Avon track and field student-athletes have gone on to competed in other sports at Boston University, Harvard University, Northeastern University, The University of Pennsylvania and Rochester Institute of Technology.
Avon competes at the Greg Linburg ‘87 Track and Field Facility that boasts a state-of-the-art Beynon polyurethane all weather track, four jump runways and two shot put circles. The season begins the first week of March and culminates in the New England Championships at the end of May.Results
