AVON RECOGNIZES MLK DAY
As the nation celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. this month, Avon Old Farms School invited Eddie Glaude Jr., one of the nation’s most prominent scholars, to campus to partake in special events to honor the work and legacy of Dr. King.
At Morning Meeting on Monday, Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Ahmad Cantrell reminded the students of the importance of the day, and who it celebrates. He spoke about Dr. King, explaining how a significant piece of Dr. Martin Luther King’s life work was his overwhelming belief in the power of education. His academic journey, marked by a doctorate in theology, equipped him with the intellectual tools to articulate a vision of equality in America. He asked students and faculty to let Dr. King’s belief in the power of education inspire our own pursuit of knowledge. |
