In Memoriam

Page Title

"Up, up the long delirious burning blue; I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.

Where never lark, or even eagle flew; And while with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high, untrespassed sanctity of space; Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."

JOHN GILLESPIE MAGEE JR. '40, FROM THE POEM "HIGH FLIGHT"

A Man of Avon: Always

We remember and we honor our brothers who are no longer with us.

The brotherhood extends to a place deep within the heart of Avon Old Farms: a common platform to share sympathy and stories is a powerful tool to help process loss. Express your condolences or bear witness to a memory of your classmate by clicking on his name or through the “Write Tribute” link.

Inform Us

Please let us know if an alumnus has passed away so we can include a tribute to his life on this page.

Men of Avon Who Passed After January 2017

NOTE: We do our best to notify classmates in a timely manner of the loss of a classmate. Upon receiving notifications an email is sent from the Alumni & Development Office to the classmates of, including the year prior and the year after, the deceased. We believe “In Memoriam” will help the school to honor those in our community who are no longer with us in a more lasting, interactive, and timely manner. We also include mentions of known deaths in the “In Memoriam” section of the Fall and Spring Avonian and all Avonians that have left us within the current year are remembered collectively as a community during Reunion Weekend at a special chapel ceremony.
