Alumni Career Day 2025

On Saturday, November 15, 35 alumni came back to campus to talk with current students about their career paths. The day began with a panel discussion featuring Tade Reen '95, Andrew Cummings '10, and Peter Reed '88 who fielded questions about their career trajectories and offered advice they wished that they had received. After the panel, alums from the 1970's up through 2020 answered student questions and engaged in discussions about college majors, internships, and what it is like to work in their professions. Following this, everyone gathered in the refectory for lunch and continued informal discussions, including lots of time spent on how the students can keep in touch and take advantage of the alumni network.
Andrew Corrigan ’98, who serves as the Alumni Council Vice President of Alumni and School Engagement, helped organize the event. He reflected on what he hopes the current Avonians took away from their experience.
I hope that the students got some solid advice about how winding a career path can be. It helps to hear that you don't have to have all the answers, and even when you think you do, things change and new opportunities present themselves in unique ways. But the most important takeaway for the students should be that they have a huge network of alums who are willing to help, and excited to be involved in the school. The Avon brotherhood means that you have a shared experience with alums across years and generations. That shared experience can be the catalyst for meaningful professional relationships, and amazing mentorship opportunities.

He also shared his feelings on why the event was just rewarding for the alumni participants, and why he encourages others to get involved.
This was an incredibly meaningful event for the alums who participated. It is a great opportunity to help give back to the school that did so much for all of us. For alums who haven't been back to campus recently, they will be amazed at how much the school has grown, but they will recognize the soul of the school remains the same. I encourage any alum who would like to be a part of this event, or any program on campus to reach out!
