Supporting the Mentors

For nearly a century, the Avon experience has been defined by relationships. 

It is found in the mentor who notices when a student needs encouragement, the coach who teaches lessons beyond the playing field, the advisor who guides through moments of challenge and growth, and the dorm faculty member who is present long after the school day ends. 

These relationships are the foundation of an Avon education. 

Avon’s residential model depends on exceptional educators who do more than teach in the classroom. They live alongside students, share meals, supervise dormitories, coach teams, advise clubs, and help create the close-knit community that makes Avon distinctive. 

Supporting these mentors means ensuring they have the resources and environment they need to fully embrace this work. Faculty choose boarding school because they want to be present in students' lives, not just during class, but always. Avon must be able to offer them a home. 

As Avon prepares for its Centennial, expanding faculty housing has become a strategic priority. Faculty housing is central to Avon's identity: 39 of 54 faculty members live on campus, helping to create the residential community at the heart of the Avon experience. But that housing has long been in short supply and is ultimately a gap that limits the School's ability to compete for candidates drawn to residential life. 

The Centennial Campaign will close that shortfall. Six new faculty homes will strengthen Avon's residential community, deepen the relationships that define life in Mrs. Riddle's Village, and help the School continue attracting and retaining educators called to the demanding, deeply rewarding work of living alongside students. 

More than a housing project, this is an investment in the people who make Avon what it is.
